Food

Communal eating

The Kurdish Advice Centre hosts a Kurdish Kitchen every Friday – a great opportunity for our community to come together and discuss the different research and action programmes, take advantage of our children’s library and free coat schemes, meet your neighbours and enjoy some delicious food. All welcome!

Mapping our local food system

CCC’s partner organisations – the Kurdish Advice Centre and Hornsey Food Bank (in collaboration with a wide range of Campsbourne and Hornsey-based organisations, including schools, sheltered and supported-living accommodation, food distribution charities, faith-based and cultural organisations, communal kitchens etc.) have been awarded a small grant from Hornsey Parochial Charities to conduct some research and action to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, inclusivity and sustainability of our local food system.

There are two phases to the project. In Phase 1 (June-December 2023) we are mapping the existing system (food sources, distribution channels and access points) to identify both existing resources and gaps/challenges. We are also exploring the specific needs of different organisations and groups e.g. schools and families with young children, the sheltered accommodation and supported living residents including older residents and those with disabilities, as well as migrant groups with no recourse to public funds and those experiencing homelessness. In Phase 2 (January – July 2024 – funding TBC) we will implement concrete actions to improve the local food system.
