Housing

The CCC is working with a partners including researchers, think tanks, activists, local housing associations and residents of the Campsbourne Estate to document experiences of social housing and challenge the council around decisions relating to rents, service charge and development.

There are 3 key activities in this programme:

  • Mapping the social housing on Campsbourne Estate to identify ownership (by the council, housing associations or private provider) and rents/service charge and tracing back the history of land sales
  • Examining the quality of housing on the estate (focusing on damp, mould and disrepair) and working with architects to explore potential solutions
  • Documenting experiences of residents around accessing social housing (from homelessness to bidding), affordability of rent and service charges and overcrowding.

To deliver this programme, we are working with several partners including Haringey Defend Council Housing and the New Economics Foundation. We also have a new collaboration with UCL’s Urban Lab and their MASc Programme in Global Urbanism.
